Secret

To my dearest friend,
I have lost something very close to me and it's a secret. I'm not sure if I can tell you. But I will tell you that it happened a couple of days ago. In the middle of the night we left the windows open because it was a very hot night. When I woke up, my secret was no longer there. I recently bought a new, studded colar for 50 bucks and now I am not sure that I can use it. I cannot believe this happened and I am very upset about it. I don't like to talk about this but I think I am going to end up telling you. I hope I can trust you with this secret and I hope you will not tell anybody. My big secret is... That... My dog ran away. Please keep this confidential, I do not want anybody to know.

Rejection..

There are many ways a person can feel rejected.  For instance, somebody could feel they have been rejected socially and emotionally if they repeatedly ask a person, maybe a friend or even somebody they have feelings for to hang out  and that person blows them off or tries to come up with an excuse not to hang out. Another example would be if somebody tried to do something simple to make a friend or two, such as trying to sit at a different lunch table at lunch and everybody at that table tells them to leave or makes other remarks. If somebody feels rejected repeatedly, such as being blown off like the example I mentioned, this could make that person feel very neglected. Feeling neglected could lead to many more emotional or even physical problems. The emotional problems it could lead to would be sadness or even depression. But even worse, the physical problems it could lead to is hurting themselves or somebody else.

Atmosphere

Gothic novels emphasize horror, mystery, and the super natural. Out of the three elements of atmosphere, action, and super natural, the atmosphere is the most effective in producing a scary feeling. For example, if you see a figure shaded by the night, instead of in broad daylight, then it will have a more eerie and mysterious effect. The atmosphere sets the scene and creates the mood for the story Frankenstein. When Frankenstein, the creator of a monster made from the remains of the deceased, goes to his home town due to his brother getting murdered, he sees the monster at the scene of the murder. It was very dark, almost pitch black, which created an eerie mood and makes Frankenstein think the monster be created killed his brother. The book also explains how in the dead silence of a dark night, the monster was lurking through a village. When the residents of the village see the monster on the dark, scary night, they all get scared and run away. Due to these examples, I feel as if the atmosphere of a story has more of an effect than action or the super natural.

Opening of Frankenstein

Mary Shelley opens her novel, Frankenstein, with four letters from an explorer named Robert Walton. He is writing to his sister and explains the dangerous voyage he is going through to get to the North Pole. On his way to his destination Walton comes across a stranger and lets him on the ship. Walton and the stranger become close friends. But, this was a confusing opening and hard for me to understand. If I was to wite a ghost story I would begin it by describing the ghost and its back story, if it has a back story. After describing the ghost, I would then go into detail about how the ghost affects other people, such as if it haunts them. The story would then unravel further and tell what tasks the ghost wanted to complete before entering the after life.

One Year Evaluation

My boss at my job at Wendy's wants to give me a one year evaluation. When she told me about it, she seemed extremely happy. I think this was because she knows I have become a very good worker. I know that I have improved drastically since the first day of work. Even though she sometimes has to tell me to smile at the customers, I have became very friendly towards them. I have also became extremely fast at making sandwiches compared to my first day, or even my first month of work . I am hoping and praying this is why my boss seemed so happy and excited when she told me about my evaluation. If my evaluation is about me becoming an excellent worker, I hope the outcome will be a raise or even a promotion. I have worked very hard since my first day on the job in October.

Flying ability or invisible ability?

If I had to choose between being able to fly or to turn invisible, I would pick the ability to fly. It is much faster and efficient than driving a car. Flying would save me money because I would not have to pay for gas to put in my car. Flying also would cause less air pollutant because it would stop people from driving cars which run on fossil fuel. By flying I would conserve fossil fuels so people could use them for other useful things than driving. Also, I love riding rides at cedar point and at carnivals so flying would feel just like I am on a ride, which would be really fun. Turning invisible would not be as exciting and efficient as flying would be. This is why I would rather fly than turn invisible.

A Broken Promise

One time, I promised my mom I would not let my dog run away, even though I did not like the dog. One day when I came home I saw garbage everywhere from the dog getting into the trash. I let it go that time. But the next day I was eating dinner and the dog ate my food right off of my plate. I got so furious because food is not a toy and should not be played with. I was just so mad that I opened the door and let the dog go free. When my mom got home she was very angry. She made me look all night for the dog but I could not find it. The next day when I came home from school, the dog was sitting on the porch. I was so relieved and my mom was too because she loved that dog. In the end, I am glad it came back home.

Desperate Measures

One day, in the summer of 2013, I went to Cedar Point with a couple of friends. We got there when it opened and planned to stay until they closed, but something had come up. There was thunder storm and tornado warnings for the area. At first, we weren't that frightened because it was still sunny and we didn't see any storms approaching. But about 10 minutes later, it got really dark and eerie. Heavy rain came out of no where and the tornado sirens were going off telling us to seek shelter right away. Since Cedar Point is an outdoor amusement park, we were not sure what to do or where to go. We tried everything, like going under umbrellas, trying to go to the car to leave, and we even tried to go into the stores but they were closed. We couldn't figure out what to do and we were very scared. Finally, as we were running through the park trying to find somewhere to go, a worker came up to us and told us to go the bathrooms immediately. When we aarived at the bathrooms, the WHOLE park was trying to squeeze in there to seek shelter. My friends and I stayed in the bathrooms until the sirens went off and the weather cleared up. After all, everything worked out great and we went home as soon as the workers let us leave the bathrooms, just in case there was going to be another storm...

Trust Me

Two years ago I went on vacation with my aunt, uncle, and cousins. We were in Tennessee and the weather was really hot. We did a lot of things like, hiking, paddle boating, go carting, and went to amusement parks. One day after we ate lunch, we decided we wanted to go swimming. My cousin, Tyler, was afraid to go in the pool because it was deep and over his head. Everyone was telling him he would be all right with his floaties on, but he would not go in. I walked over to him and sat down, and started talking to him about swimming. I told him to be brave and come swimming with me. I told him he would not know how fun it is and if he liked it, until he tried it. I told him I was going to swim with him and that I would not let anything happen to him. So, his mom and dad asked him again if he was going to swim, and he said he would only go if I went. It made me fell good that he trusted me enough and believed that I would help him if anything happened to him. So, he went in the pool and he loved it. We had a hard time getting him to get out when it was time to leave.

The Struggles Of 10th Grade

As a sophomore, there are plenty of obstacles I had to conquer. But there are two specific challenges that I have yet to overcome. One of these is algebra 2. This class is a challenge for me because I do not really enjoy this subject. It is boring and difficult, which is why I rarely participate. The other problem I face is my SDEV 103 course. Just like algebra 2, this class is very dreadful. This course is too fast paced for me and I feel as if I cannot keep up, but that does not mean I am going to give up. Even though 10th grade has struggles, there are many achievements too.

OGT I'm Most Nervous About

I feel most nervous about taking the history/social studies OGT. This is because I did not do so well on my history final that I took last month. But hopefully I can change this feeling of uneasiness and nervousness by doing many things. I have about 20 school days left before taking the OGT's and in that 20 days, I will try to study very hard. I will aslo try to get plenty of sleep starting the week before taking the tests, just so that I am refreshed and ready. The day of the tests, I will try to wake up a little bit earlier than I usually do, just so that I can have a fulfilling breakfast. I will aslo manage to have some time left over that morning to look over some information that I think might be on the test. After doing all of these steps, I hope I will go to school on testing day feeling confident in myself and and having no feelings of uneasiness.
